Forehead lines, also referred to as forehead wrinkles, are the horizontal indentations that form across the forehead. The most noticeable forehead wrinkles occur when we make specific facial expressions, such as lifting our eyebrows. When we grin, laugh, or show concern, the glabella muscles tug and pull on the skin that covers them, creating deep forehead lines.
Fine lines on the forehead are natural, visible indentations that run throughout everyone’s face, but they grow more noticeable and deep-set as we age. This occurs as our skin grows looser and the collagen that supports the structure of our faces becomes less defined. Over time, when we repeat facial movements such as smiling and frowning, the skin across our brows uses up its collagen and elastin stores, which keeps the skin firm and taut. As a result, forehead lines and wrinkles appear to be more pronounced and noticeable.
